StreamBase names Mark Palmer CEO

StreamBase Systems, a leading provider of high-performance complex event processing (CEP) software, today announced the promotion of President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Palmer to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

The appointment is effective October 1, 2008.

"This is the perfect time to hand over day-to-day leadership of the company to Mark," said StreamBase Chairman and CEO Chris Risley. "We've worked together for six months and I'm very pleased to support Mark in his new role as CEO." Mr. Risley, who joined StreamBase in August 2007, will continue to serve as Chairman.
"I'm delighted to be leading this next phase of StreamBase's growth," Mr. Palmer said. "I look forward to providing our customers with the world-class products and services they've come to expect from StreamBase."

Mr. Palmer joined StreamBase in April 2008. Previously Mr. Palmer worked for Progress Software (NASDAQ: PRGS), where he led the Apama business unit as General Manager. Mr. Palmer won an InfoWorld Innovator award and was named to the InfoWorld Media Group's Innovators Hall of Fame for his work in event processing in 2005. Mr. Palmer has spoken all over the world and has published over 40 articles on electronic trading in capital markets and large-scale software architecture.

Mr. Palmer's previous roles include CIO and CTO of YouthStream Media Networks, Principal Consultant with Object Design, Inc., and Senior Developer for Digital Equipment's DECtrade, a 200-person equities trading system that was deployed at Banker's Trust in London in 1990.
