Scottrade, a leading branch-supported online investment company, has appointed Joan Albeck as Chief Technology Officer. The appointment comes only two months after Albeck was recognized by CIO magazine as one of the nation's top IT leaders.

"It is a huge honor to be Scottrade's first Chief Technology Officer," said Albeck. "Working for Scottrade has been an incredible experience and I am looking forward to further advancing the firm as an IT leader."

As Chief Technology Officer, Albeck will oversee all IT infrastructure-related design, implementation and support initiatives. This includes leading an IT staff of 100 associates who support the data center and internal network for more than 360 branch offices nationwide. She will also manage and work with external organizations critical to the success of Scottrade's computing infrastructure.

Albeck joined Scottrade in 2005 and has been instrumental in leading the IT expansion that allows the St. Louis based company to continue growing its business and serving its customers. In 2006, Albeck led the complete network and infrastructure design of the firm's state-of-the-art $25 million data center, the largest investment for the firm to date.

Albeck is a widely-respected IT strategist with experience in analysis, design, development and implementation of hardware, software and support services. In May, she was named among CIO magazine's 2008 Ones to Watch recipients and won the Standout award honoring her accomplishments as a project driver.

"Joan's dedication to Scottrade's IT infrastructure allows this organization to grow and operate effectively," said Ian Patterson, Scottrade Chief Information Officer. "She is passionate about her role with Scottrade and I am confident that her expertise and enthusiasm will continue to benefit this organization."

In addition to her extensive background in IT, Albeck has experience in office management, including broker support, banking client services/personal banking, bank application support and insurance application support. She earned her bachelor's in business administration from Bellevue University of Nebraska and has a master's degree in computer resources and information management from Webster University-St. Louis.
