Newedge, the new force in global brokerage, today announced the appointment of Jean-Luc Savignac as Chief Operating Officer for Americas Zone.
Savignac most recently served as Project Leader for the internal team overseeing the integration of Calyon Financial and Fimat which merged to form Newedge in January 2008. Immediately prior to the merger, he was Managing Director of New Products and Business Initiatives and an executive committee member of Fimat Americas. Savignac previously held a number of other senior positions with the firm, including heading its offices in Frankfurt and Tokyo and serving as Global Director of Internal Audit. He also worked in the market surveillance area at MATIF, the former French derivatives Clearing House.
As COO for Newedge's Americas Zone, Savignac will be responsible for operations, information technology, risk, business logistics and the project management office.
Savignac replaces Tom Kloet, who has departed Newedge to become Chief Executive Officer of the TSX Group, Canada's largest stock and derivatives exchange.
Newedge Global COO Cynthia Zeltwanger said, "I have worked with Jean-Luc on many significant projects over the years and each has benefited greatly from his insight, attention to detail and thorough understanding of our business. I look forward to the contributions he will make in his new capacity."
Marc Schultz, CEO of Newedge Americas, said, "Jean-Luc's work on the merger and integration process, combined with his global perspective and project management skills, make him uniquely qualified for this role. I have a great deal of confidence in the skills and leadership Jean-Luc brings to our crucial operational areas, as well as his ability to position these areas for future opportunities and growth."
