CB.Net Ltd, a leading payments reference data provider, today, announced the launch of a new service, The European Banking Directory, working in Partnership with the European Payments Council (EPC).

The European Banking Directory will provide the industry for the first time with the definitive list of all licensed banks in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).

Andrew Foulds, Director, Directory Services CB.Net says: "CB.Net is delighted to be working in partnership with the EPC, helping banks realise the objective of SEPA and finally providing a level of transparency into what has previously been a confusing area".

The Directory, which is available at europeanbankingdirectory.com, will enable users to have access to up-to-date accurate information on licensed banks in SEPA. The European Banking Directory will also provide: trade, retail and brand names, registered address and the SEPA status of banks.

The European Banking Directory will be powered by CB.Net and will have 100% coverage of the 31 countries in SEPA. As with all CB.Net services, the data is derived only from authoritative sources - as well as being checked against the official lists published by the national bank licensing authorities in each SEPA country. The data is checked and verified by CB.Net's specialist data team before being updated weekly into the Directory.

The European Banking Directory will also be integrated into CB.Net's flagship product, BankSearchPlus, enabling clients to receive the most comprehensive payments reference available from one single source.

Stewart MacKinnon, Secretary General of the European Payments Council, commented: "The European Banking Directory is just another step in enabling us to realise the benefits of SEPA by bringing together a single source of data on banks in SEPA".
