Vormetric, the leader in data security management and enforcement solutions, announced today that MetaBank has implemented Vormetric Data Security to encrypt and protect sensitive personal and financial information on customers and credit card holders.
MetaBank selected Vormetric Data Security to encrypt SQL Servers storing sensitive data based on ease of implementation, transparency, performance and centralized policy and key management.
"Vormetric Data Security offered us an easier yet effective method to encrypt our SQL Server databases and comply with PCI DSS encryption and key management requirements," said Troy Larson, MetaBank's vice president, Information Systems. "As opposed to the complexity of implementing point encryption products, Vormetric Data Security provides us with a consistent and centrally managed security model across our infrastructure. The abilities to centralize key and policy management as well as implement a solution that evolves with our developing needs were critical factors in our decision to select Vormetric."
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard 1.1 (PCI DSS) requires strict protective measures for securing cardholder data. Any company that stores, processes or transmits credit card data must comply with the standard, which is designed and enforced by card industry leaders Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and Discover.
PCI DSS mandates include data encryption, protection of stored cardholder data, detailed auditing and logging of all access attempts, and controls on those who are authorized to view or work with the data. Vormetric Data Security meets PCI DSS and protects valuable information wherever it is stored within the enterprise.
"As enterprises move toward broad encryption implementations, the ability to centralize and standardize key management and data security has become a pressing need," said Richard Gorman, Vormetric CEO. "Vormetric Data Security is the only solution providing organizations, like MetaBank, with this central point of management, securing any file, any database, anywhere across an enterprise. We are proud to serve MetaBank's needs as the centralized data security system for addressing their database encryption, customer information protection and PCI DSS compliance needs."
