RSA Security Inc. (NASDAQ:RSAS) announced today the availability of RSA(R) Validation Solution v3.0 that enables enterprises and government organizations to validate the integrity of digital certificates in real-time to help promote high levels of trust and protection for electronic communications and transactions.
New features in the RSA Validation Solution include built-in failover clustering support, digitally signed audit logs, advanced network synchronization, and additional support for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) operating platforms. As a result, organizations can improve user accountability in online transactions, increase reliability across a distributed network, and help lower administration costs.
"Across the globe, more and more organizations are looking at the Internet and mobile networks for eBusiness, collaboration, and as a channel for new services, but fears over fraudulent transactions, security breaches and privacy concerns may hold them back," said Ian Williams, senior analyst, Datamonitor, an industry research firm based in the U.K. "Areas such as web services for inter-business collaboration, eGovernment projects and consumer- oriented initiatives such as the Open Mobile Alliance DRM scheme, rely on digital certificates to provide the trust that is so vital to the success of such ventures. All parties involved, however, must be convinced that the certificates are valid, and technologies such as the RSA Validation Solution provide a higher level of trust that such transactions are legitimate."
The RSA Validation Solution is an industry standards-based, real-time status checking solution that helps to alleviate deployment and performance concerns associated with certificate revocation lists (CRL), issues that often prevent organizations from accurately assessing the validity of digital certificates. The scalable RSA Validation Solution supports the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) and works in concert with certificates issued by RSA Keon(R) Certificate Authority (CA) software, as well as other third-party certificate management solutions, including Microsoft, CA and VeriSign.
RSA Validation Solution now can provide organizations with built-in clustering support for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance. This can help administrators perform more real-time transactions and provide failover protection so processes may continue without interruption. Administrators can now also install a cluster of multiple nodes and scale up to millions of transactions per hour.
To assist with today's increasingly stringent audit and compliance issues, including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the addition of digitally signed audit logs in RSA Validation Solution provides a verifiable record of all certificate activities. In addition, a new synchronization feature allows for low bandwidth distribution of the RSA Validation Solution across different nodes on a wide area network.
"Organizations need to be able to trust the digital identities within their electronic communications and web services environments, and confidently deploy digital certificates in order to strongly authenticate these transactions," said Jason Lewis, vice president, product management and marketing at RSA Security. "RSA Validation Solution not only provides accountability and the assurance of authenticity, but it is able to interoperate with other CAs, and both scale and perform to help lower the costs of administration."
