TSYS announced completion of its 53,000 square-foot, purpose-built European data center in Knaresborough. The center was built to accommodate client growth and the company's expansion throughout the continent.

"The TSYS team fully understands the requirements for a high availability data center, and assembled a team of specialists and installed the most advanced equipment to deliver one, " said Dr John Wood, Reliable IT Environments Ltd. "Resilience and redundancy have been the prime considerations. This is the best data center of which Reliable IT Environments is aware, certainly in the U.K. and probably in the whole of Europe. It will set the standard for the next decade."

The center replaced the company's leased data center in Harrogate. Built on 3 acres, the center contains 15,000 square feet for offices. Additional features include a separate machine room, plant block, N+N generator and UPS back-up systems. Additional acreage is available to accommodate future expansion.

"Investing in a purpose-built data center demonstrates our commitment to the European marketplace and helps us achieve our objective of becoming the leading consumer finance transaction processor," said Kelley Knuston, Managing Director, TSYS Europe. "Our success in the United Kingdom, Ireland and continental Europe depends on our ability to deliver exceptional services and products that meet the needs of all the markets we serve. Our European data center positions us to offer significant added-value solutions to financial institutions and retailers."
