EDB Business Partner and SpareBank 1 have entered into an agreement for a new alliance platform for distributed IT operating services for all the SpareBank 1 banks.

The agreement means that all of SpareBank 1 will now use EDB's platform for administrative office solutions known as EDB SKALA. The agreement will involve 5,000 users and run for 7 years, with total contract value of NOK 210 million.

SpareBank 1 decided some time ago to establish a new alliance platform, and has now chosen EDB SKALA as the base for this platform. This agreement represents annual contract value of around NOK 30 million, and runs to the end of 2014. The new agreement expands the use of EDB's SKALA solution. In addition to the current users at Sparebank 1, the agreement now includes users at SpareBank 1 Midt-Norge, SpareBank 1 SR-Bank, SpareBank 1 Livsforsikring and SpareBank 1 Skadeforsikring, as well as users at the jointly-owned holding company SpareBank 1 Gruppen.

Major long-term commitment with Sparebank 1
"This represents an exciting expansion of our collaboration with SpareBank 1. We will add 2,000 new SKALA users to the current 3,000 SKALA users at SpareBank 1, and extend the agreement by 7 years", explains Thorolf Thorstensen, acting EVP for IT Operations, the unit at EDB with operational responsibility for SpareBank 1.

"This is an important investment for SpareBank 1, giving us a state-of-the-art platform and streamlining our IT operations to the benefit of both our employees and customers", comments Eivind Gjemdal, EVP and CIO at SpareBank 1 Gruppen. "We have a comprehensive process ahead of us, and through this project we will gain access to a state-of the-art platform that offers functionality not currently available in our portfolio".

EDB Business Partner currently delivers solutions and banking operating services for SpareBank 1. This collaboration is now expanding to include office support solutions for all the banks in the alliance in addition to banking and finance applications.
