First Data Corp., a global leader in electronic commerce and payment services, today announced the introduction of the First Data FD50, an affordable point-of-sale terminal featuring solid design and construction, easy operation and state-of-the-art security.
The FD50 is the latest addition to the expanding First Data proprietary terminal line, which already includes the FD100 - the workhorse terminal of the line featuring touch-screen technology, five USB ports, 64 megabytes of memory, and is off-the-shelf multi-language capable.
"Merchants today want an affordable terminal solution that will grow with their business and maintain its value for many years," said Bruce Dragt, senior vice president at First Data Corp. "Available at one of the lowest costs in the marketplace, the FD50 has the capability to accept today's electronic payment options and is configured to support future advancements in payment technology."
The FD50 terminal supports both dial-up and Internet Protocol (IP) communications which allows a merchant to accept virtually every payment option, including PIN-secured and signature debit cards, electronic benefits transfer (EBT), credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard/Diners Club, American Express, Discover, JCB as well as First Data gift cards. With the addition of optional peripheral equipment, the FD50 terminal can also accept contactless payments, and checks using TeleCheck Electronic Check Acceptance (ECA) or paper solutions.
