Wincor ATMs certified in Australia

Wincor Nixdorf is the first ATM vendor to have its ATMs certified under Australia's new Series 2 CECS (Consumer Electronic Clearing System) Manual.

As a certified vendor, Wincor Nixdorf is now able to install its ATMs in IT networks of Australian financial institutions. The certification, which is required by the Australian Payments Clearings Association (APCA), ensures that all ATM and EFTPOS (Electronic Fund Transfer Point of Sale) systems deployed in the country meet established security standards, particularly the need to protect consumers' personal identification numbers (PINs).

"In the future, we will offer Australian financial institutions and ATM deployers our proven self-service technology in collaboration with local partners," said Ricardos Khoury, Banking Head for Wincor Nixdorf in Asia Pacific. "We see huge potential for our solutions in Australia." Opportunities to supply parts and replace systems exist in cities with their extensive ATM networks, while rural areas show room for greater ATM penetration.

By attaining the APCA accreditation, Wincor Nixdorf has committed itself to meeting Australia's stringent security requirements. The company is working closely with regulatory bodies, such as APCA, to tailor its products to meet local requirements.

The ATM evaluation was conducted by Witham Laboratories in Melbourne, one of four APCA-approved evaluation facilities worldwide. The facility has been evaluating Wincor Nixdorf systems in Australia since April 2007.
