Gemalto's CardLikeMe is a web-based solution that allows cardholders to customize their payment card with a photo of their choice. An easy-to-use interface lets the bank's customers upload and edit the picture directly from their computer and order online. Gemalto provided the bank with the software solution required for processing the photograph on its website as well as consulting services. Commercial launch started at the beginning of October.

With CardLikeMe, customers can easily design a personalized banking card with their favorite photograph. They can adjust the picture as desired, zoom, rotate or focus on one part of it. In addition, an online gallery of visuals is also available from the bank's website.

This new contract demonstrates Gemalto's ability to offer value-added services that allow banks to differentiate themselves by delivering innovative products to cardholders. By making the card exclusive with a personalized photo, CardLikeMe strengthens the customer's attachment, much in the same way as customizing the mobile phone or PC screen.

"When bank customers carry several cards, they are more likely to pay with their favorite one," added Philippe Cambriel, executive vice-president Secure Transactions Business Unit at Gemalto. "As a result, CardLikeMe can help move the card to the top of the wallet, which constitutes a real differentiating factor."
