Reuters (LSE: RTR; NASDAQ: RTRSY) today announced extended data capabilities with the addition of OTC equity options pricing and counterparty hierarchy information to its Reuters DataScope Select hosted data management and extraction platform.

Reuters DataScope Select has extended its evaluated pricing services by providing clients with the mechanism to submit deal information and request prices for OTC equity options via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or a user friendly interface. Users can also search and identify the exact origin of a specific security or transaction through company hierarchy and counterparty data now available within the same hosted platform.

This latest release of Reuters DataScope Select also offers expanded data content that supports Regulatory Transaction Reporting under MiFID.

Reuters DataScope Select provides intra-day, end of day, evaluated and historical pricing data alongside corporate actions and reference data for asset classes and instruments across global markets. The solution delivers the breadth of pricing and reference data needed across financial services institutions throughout the front, middle and back office. It supports Straight Through Processing (STP) across business and compliance functions by linking internal processes within the enterprise via a common data platform.

The proliferation of derivatives and the recent market environment caused by the US sub-prime mortgage crisis has highlighted the need for accurate pricing information for complex, hard to value instruments. Institutions also face calls for greater transparency and the ability to identify the origin of complex transactions and trading counterparties to accurately manage their exposure.

Tim Rice, Global Head of Fund Administration at Reuters Enterprise commented: "At Reuters we are continually developing our pricing and reference data capabilities to provide a definitive one-stop-shop for our clients' financial information enterprise needs in this area. The extended data capabilities announced today further enhance our offering making it easier and more cost-effective for clients to manage their entire data requirements."
