RBS Lynk, the US payment processing arm of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, and Trustwave today announced a partnership in a Risk Profiler program, a specialized data security service to help merchants identify their risks and vulnerabilities associated with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and ultimately facilitate their compliance.
Trustwave is a leading provider of data security and compliance management solutions to businesses in the payment card industry.
RBS Lynk and Trustwave are providing Level Three and Level Four merchants, as defined by the card brands, with access to online and onsite services designed to assist in identifying risky credit card acceptance practices.
Through the partnership with Trustwave, RBS Lynk merchants will have access to a variety of real-time data security tools that protect cardholder data as it is processed and/or transmitted to mitigate risk, including: the Risk Profiler web-based risk analysis tool; TrustKeeper, a web-based compliance management solution that includes the PCI DSS self-assessment questionnaire; and other validation services.
The Risk Profiler program will determine the merchants required by RBS Lynk to complete a self-assessment questionnaire and undertake a network- vulnerability scan in accordance with PCI DSS regulations.
"This program will help merchants meet the requirements of PCI DSS and ensure the protection of consumer card data," says LeAnn Brown, RBS Lynk assistant vice president and risk manager of PCI compliance. "We are working with Trustwave to simplify the process for merchants to establish and maintain their compliance with these important security mandates."
RBS Lynk merchants will also have access to the TrustKeeper Agent, a new software-based agent that can be downloaded to a merchant's Point-of-Sale (POS) system to determine whether credit card track data is being inappropriately stored on the system. RBS Lynk will provide one free month of vulnerability scanning for merchants who respond to the Risk Profiler as they start their compliance process.
"We are excited at the opportunity to work with RBS Lynk-a premier acquiring institution-to help merchants achieve and maintain PCI DSS compliance," says Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave. "We can assist Level Three and Four merchant populations through the compliance cycle with easy-to-access technologies to ensure consumer identities and payment information remain secure."
