Focus Solutions Group plc, leading provider of adaptive software solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of their new technology suite 'focus:technology 2007'.

focus:technology 2007 is a suite of highly flexible development tools that are pushing the boundaries in the construction of configurable presentation layers. This revolutionary XML based toolkit enables the rapid creation of functionally rich user interfaces that can apply business intelligence in the capture, validation and presentation of data.

At the heart of focus:technology 2007 are three sophisticated XML languages that allow data capture forms, dynamic reports, complex business rules and entire front office solutions to be easily and quickly defined in a soft and configurable manner, all using an intuitive point and click approach to development. focus:technology 2007 puts control back in our client's hands by simplifying the development, maintenance and deployment of solutions and thereby reducing the overall cost of ownership whilst helping client's to adapt quickly to changing business needs.

Focus developed the first commercially available XML development toolkit - goal:technology in 1999, which broke the mould in its development approach, enabling the quick and easy development of complex user interfaces compared to existing methods. focus:technology 2007 is our next generation toolkit that builds on our past experiences with enhanced data capture and presentation capabilities that further extend its functional reach both on and off line. As such it will enable clients to create more sophisticated user interfaces that are engaging and intuitive to use achieving the automation of complex processes.

focus:technology 2007 also introduces many powerful new features that significantly increase productivity thereby reducing development timescales.

New Features include:
  • Increased support for rich dynamic user interfaces
    • Truly dynamic forms and reports that grow to meet your iterative data requirements
    • Deliver large complex user interfaces quickly
  • More flexible presentation layout capabilities
    • Choose between Rows, C Columns, Tabs and Side-by-Side layouts or combine and nest them for the ultimate flexibility in user interface design
    • Choose from the increased range of data capture fields giving you greater control over how you capture and present data
    • Plug-in rich business content including static and dynamic generated images and graphs for a professional finish
  • Powerful new declarative "natural" business rules
    • Makes the programming model simpler and more intuitive - we handle the complexity for you
    • Leads to fewer business rules that are easier to write and maintain
  • Greater flexibility and re-use
    • Create your own re-usable business objects
    • Re-use components across multiple forms and reports
    • Supports collaborative developments

focus:technology 2007 builds on Focus' long standing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) credentials and continues to offer full integration with existing (legacy) or future on and off line services. Thereby enabling you to enhance and extend your SOA. This next generation toolkit is a key component within the composite application framework.

focus:technology 2007 also includes a Software Development Kit (SDK) of runtime components whose behaviour and look & feel can be customised and configured for total flexibility. All our runtime components are also available for seamless integration into existing on or off line solutions.

Richard Stevenson, Chief Executive Officer, Focus Solutions, commented "focus:technology 2007 is a proven technology that offers considerable benefits to organisations looking to build reusable, strategic user interfaces, and offers a faster time-to-market for new development initiatives, providing a significant competitive advantage and real benefits of cost-saving via application re-use. The toolkit is currently used by financial services and public sector organisations, but we believe this technology can be used across the sectors, where there is a need to capture data intelligently. SOA is a hot topic at the moment, but this modular approach can be inflexible, so we see focus:technology 2007 enabling organisations that have invested heavily in SOA to extend their front office capability."
