BankServ, worldwide experts in electronic payments, today announced the successful implementation of its Global Funds Exchange (GFX) system for Bank of Guam.

Despite the 17 hour time difference and nearly 8,000 miles that lie between BankServ's San Francisco processing center and Hagatna, Guam, Bank of Guam's wire room transition to the GFX system ran smoothly and resulted in over 150 completed wire transactions on the July 19 (Hagatna) / July 18 (San Francisco) implementation date.

BankServ's leadership in its Fedwire business allows banks of all sizes and locations to conduct wire transfers efficiently, safely and cost- effectively. "BankServ is excited to add Bank of Guam to our base of Fedwire clients and to take our business across the International Date Line," comments Dennis Mierzwa, Vice President of Wire Services, BankServ. "Our GFX Service Bureau now provides wire services spanning from the Virgin Islands to the Island of Guam, locations 11,708 miles apart."

Bank of Guam, known as "The People's Bank," has worked since its official charter in March of 1972 to provide high quality financial services for Guam and countries across the Pacific Ocean. Bank of Guam has previously dealt with the high costs of maintaining widespread communication networks. By utilizing BankServ's advanced banking technology provided by the GFX Service Bureau, Bank of Guam can focus on the highest quality of service for all its customers. Collaboration between BankServ and Bank of Guam is further evidence of the spread of advanced banking technology to all parts of the world.

"Bank of Guam is very happy to partner with BankServ and looks forward to the time we will save compared with our previous wire process," said Josephine Mariano, Senior Vice President, Branch & Central Operations Administrator, Bank of Guam. "We were also impressed by BankServ's professionalism and energy that they demonstrated to ensure that our implementation was successful."
