Northern Trust appoints Gregg Behrens to lead Apacs businesses

Northern Trust announced today the appointment of executive vice president Gregg D. Behrens to the position of head of Asia Pacific for its Corporate and Institutional Services (C&IS) business unit.

Mr. Behrens, who will move to Singapore from Chicago, will be responsible for all of Northern Trust's businesses and operations in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, Bangalore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, and Singapore.

Mr. Behrens will report to Timothy J. Theriault, President, Corporate and Institutional Services, Northern Trust.

"Gregg is an experienced and seasoned leader within our institutional business, and he brings the right mix of energy, talent, and business acumen to this vital new role. Our Asia Pacific clients and prospects will benefit greatly from Gregg's appointment."

Mr. Behrens, 54, has over thirty-three years of experience successfully running and leading various key businesses and corporate and institutional functions at Northern Trust. From 1974 until the mid 1990s, Mr. Behrens served in various capacities in Northern Trust's former farm management subsidiary, as well as its commercial banking business. From 1995 through 1997, he served as head of the C&IS Large Corporate Group; was head of C&IS Business Services from 1998 through 2001; headed Institutional Financial Services from 2002 through 2003; headed Personal Financial Services (PFS) National Services from 2003 to 2005; and, most recently, was head of Europe, Middle East, and Africa asset servicing, based in London, from 2005 until returning to Chicago in May of this year.

Mr. Behrens holds a B.S. degree from Iowa State University and a M.M. degree from Northwestern University.
