Taiwan Futures Exchange names Andy Yeh chairman

Mr. Andy Yeh takes office as Chairman of Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) on July 4th, 2007.

Prior to joining TAIFEX, Mr. Yeh was the Chairman of Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC). The former Chairman of TAIFEX, Dr. Rong-I Wu, has been appointed as Chairman of Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TSEC).

Mr. Yeh brings with him an extensive expertise and experience in trading, clearing and IT systems. He has served at TDCC for almost 12 years and has been well recognized for his contributions in providing clearing and settlement services to both the securities and the derivatives markets. The clearing system currently being used by TAIFEX is developed and maintained by TDCC. His recent major accomplishments include upgrading of the book-entry system for securities transactions, the establishment of clearing and settlement systems for the emerging stock market of GreTai Securities Market, and co-hosting the 9th Conference of Central Securities Depositories with Japan Securities Depository Center, Inc, Japan Securities Clearing Corporation and Korea Securities Depository.

"TAIFEX and TDCC have established a long-term cooperative relationship on clearing system and product development", said Mr. Yeh. "Based upon the solid foundation laid by our regulatory authority, TAIFEX and our market participants, I will continue to develop TAIFEX into an efficient and international derivatives marketplace. Our main focus will be on developing new product, improvising trading and clearing systems, strengthening international cooperation, increasing institutional and foreign participation, and enhancing risk management and market surveillance."

Mr. Yeh is also committed to ensuring a more transparent and flexible derivatives market and catering to the needs of all market participants.
