Communicating Ltd, a UK-based technology company that provides full exchange technology solutions to the capital markets, has today announced the appointment of Michael McErlean as Director of Business Development.

McErlean, who has more than 24 years of experience in listed derivatives management, will be based in Chicago and will be tasked with introducing established exchanges as well as new market entrants to the firm's Aquarius trade matching technology and the suite of software products that surrounds it.

McErlean, 47, joins Communicating Ltd from Eurex AG where he served in the role of Director of Sales and Marketing for the Eurex US futures exchange (now known as U.S. Futures Exchange). At Eurex US he was involved in the development of the exchange from the project planning stages, through to the CFTC application process, the exchange launch, liquidity programs and subsequent product introductions. Before that, he spent +20 years at Goldman Sachs & Co serving in a variety of senior management roles in the GS Futures Services Department in Chicago, Singapore, Tokyo and London.

"Mike's addition to Communicating Ltd will enhance our ability to raise awareness to the superior processing power of our Aquarius Matching Technology to a wider global audience," said Vlad Jovanovic, the firm's founder. "His broad industry experience which saw him participate over the years as an active Board Member at SIMEX, LIFFE, BrokerTec Clearing Corp and Eurex US will give us a unique exchange perspective. In an era where the regulatory changes in Europe and the US allow for more competition and where growing volumes of message traffic from algorithmic trading makes the distinctions between competing exchange technologies more evident, we have a valuable product offering that can act as a differentiating advantage. We look forward to having Mike with us to educate the marketplace to the superior functionality of our exchange matching technology."
