GFI to implement Tibco SOA software

Tibco Software (NASDAQ: TIBX) announced today that GFI Group, a leading inter-dealer broker specialising in over-the- counter derivatives products and related securities, will implement its service- orientated architecture (SOA) and Ajax Rich Internet Applications (RIA) software, to establish a more agile and adaptable IT environment that can scale to support the company's rapid growth globally.

The selection of TIBCO's software was the result of an exhaustive evaluation process spanning several months and top SOA technology vendors.

"At GFI Group we were looking for a software vendor that could complement and align its technology with our existing Operational Service-Oriented Architecture (OSOA) platform. Additionally, we needed a company that could really understand and visualise the impact of the implementation on all parts of our organisation," said Brian Farrelly, European Strategic Projects Director at GFI Group. "TIBCO's open, collaborative approach and ability to address unique business challenges, leveraging its rich history in financial services, made it the clear choice to support our long-term business requirements."

Using TIBCO BusinessWorks as its enterprise service bus (ESB), GFI Group will initially deploy a standards-based communication layer that will work with its OSOA platform across its over the counter (OTC) derivatives business. With TIBCO's SOA software, GFI Group will be able to more quickly and cost- effectively deliver and modify a core set of loosely coupled services to support OTC business processes and end-user applications. The project will ultimately improve operational efficiency and ensure the delivery of a scalable, reliable platform that can support future technology enhancements.

The second phase of the implementation will include the integration of TIBCO's business activity monitoring (BAM) software for the aggregation and analysis of real-time information. Coupled with TIBCO General Interface, an Ajax Rich Internet Application and the newly released TIBCO Ajax Message Service, GFI Group will be able to stream live data and events from trade capture systems to an operational dashboard. GFI personnel will then be able to easily monitor transactions in real-time and help identify trade processing errors. This will enable GFI Group to adapt and adjust their business without interrupting operations.

Robin Gilthorpe, senior vice president, International Field Operations, TIBCO, said: "With revenues growing exponentially year-over-year, GFI Group needs a sophisticated and flexible technology foundation that can continually evolve over time, unconstrained by the constructs of existing applications, services and business processes. Today's announcement is another affirmation of how companies can unlock the full potential of their IT infrastructure with SOA."
