Nortel [NYSE/TSX: NT] and BT have collaborated to bring to market ITS Anywhere for Nortel, a platform that enables investors’ phone calls and communications to be monitored and accessed on or off the trading floor - providing enhanced information access and business continuity for capital market trading organisations across the globe.
BT's ITS Anywhere for Nortel extends consistent mobile access to all trading information by allowing calls and information to be viewed on remote and off-floor devices at the same time it's received by trading floor turrets and multimedia desktop devices.
"In a world where operational flexibility is vital, and threats to business continuity are coming from new and unexpected sources, trading organisations need to ensure they can keep working - no matter what," said Mark Weeks, leader, BT global account team, Nortel. "By extending access to trading information beyond just the trading floor, BT ITS Anywhere for Nortel will give the required degree of trading consistency and flexibility, as well as meeting compliance requirements such as voice recording at a centralised point."
"By liberating voice trading communications from its traditional fixed location, a virtual trading environment can be created which enables staff to work in a more flexible manner, using a wider range of devices," said Phil Mottram, managing director, BT Trading Systems. "Our collaboration with Nortel means that customers can now leverage their existing investment in the Nortel PBX infrastructure and BT's ITS trading platform to extend trading floor information to off-floor users, branch offices and other remote locations as required.
Using ITS Anywhere for Nortel, traders, analysts, researchers and operations management teams can access the services of BT's ITS platform and achieve greater flexibility, efficiency and mobility across trading operations and teams.
BT's ITS Anywhere for Nortel solution is designed for capital markets organisations, like financial markets and energy companies, that want to move to an environment where the enterprise IP telephony system can complement and interact with existing ITS trading turrets, such as ITS.Netrix. This is particularly beneficial where trading information is required by an operations manager or an analyst rather than a trader, and the cost of a full trading turret is not justifiable. By widening access to ITS services and augmenting turrets with IP Phone 2007, BT's ITS Anywhere for Nortel reduces the total cost of ownership while simultaneously providing a greater operations resiliency through highly reliable and highly secure information access away from the trading floor.
