Jyske Bank implements Envivio for IP video communication system

Jyske Bank, the second- largest independent bank in Denmark, successfully implemented an enterprise- wide IP video communication system using technology from Envivio Inc., the leading technology provider of IP video convergence solutions from mobile to HD.

Live encoders for webcasting and on-demand video servers from Envivio are used to communicate product announcements, financial services, and news updates within the bank and to create innovative branding.

Jyske Bank uses the Envivio(R) MPEG-4 products to change the way employees receive information and how it educates and markets to its customers. The decision to leverage internal and external video communications throughout Jyske Bank was crucial to its ability to attract 5,000 new customers in the fourth quarter of 2006 alone, compared to the 8,000-10,000 new customers that Jyske Bank signs up in a typical year.

"We were determined to have our customers experience Jyske Bank on an entirely new level - highly interactive and visually distinct - compared to more traditional providers of financial services," said Lars Aarup Jensen, who is head of corporate communications for Jyske Bank.

The solution for Jyske Bank includes the integration of six Envivio 4Caster(TM) B3 Broadcast Series encoders to create live webcasts and on-demand content which is distributed to more than 100 Envivio 4Sight(TM) video servers. Video is played back in all of the bank locations using 2,000 EnvivioTV(TM) players on PC desktops and video screens.

Today, when customers enter a Jyske Bank branch, they are presented with large video screens that display product information at every branch window and coffee bar. In addition, Jyske Bank has installed product displays equipped with video screens, allowing customers to select products and instantly receive video presentations that describe the products in detail.

The enterprise IP video communications infrastructure is in place to support the bank's on-going video needs including live webcasting, video on- demand editing and digital signage. Jyske Bank expects to expand its use of video on-demand to include staff training, as well as briefings with the media and analysts. Customers can also access product videos from the bank's website, and Jyske Bank customer advisors can show videos in hundreds of meeting rooms located throughout its branches.

"Our executive team had a vision to leverage technology to set the company apart and differentiate our services, and video is a core part of this vision," continued Jensen. "Feedback from our customers has been very positive, which is crucial in the competitive retail banking environment. Video is helping us accomplish our goal of being first to offer more advanced services to banking customers."

Jyske Bank is also using video to distribute company information to its 4,000 employees based in Denmark, France, Gibraltar, Germany, Holland, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, and The United Kingdom. The bank distributes a hosted weekly video news magazine for employees via the company's internal website.

"Feedback from our employees has been fantastic," added Jensen. "We are able to communicate more effectively and innovatively, which is building morale, strengthening relationships, and helping us to communicate consistently to all of our employees."

"Envivio congratulates Jyske Bank on the innovative use of IP video communications to increase employee satisfaction and build brand awareness to their customers. They have demonstrated the potential for other companies to do more and better business using video at the core of their communications strategy," said Julien Signes, President and CEO of Envivio Inc.

Enterprise video systems require the seamless integration of equipment to encode, stream and playback video throughout the network. Envivio utilizes the unique advantages of MPEG-4 to build multimedia solutions that help enterprises, government agencies and educational organizations leverage their IP networks to communicate more effectively. The solutions are ideal to deliver broadcast quality interactive video services live and on-demand to any desktop.
