SunGard today announced that the Ho Chi Minh City Housing Development Bank (HDB) of Vietnam has selected SunGard's System Access SYMBOLS to help it modernize its core banking operations.

Already installed in several banks in Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, SunGard's System Access SYMBOLS core banking solution has built-in international banking best practices and a localized version that supports Vietnamese domestic banking requirements. SunGard's System Access business unit opened an office in Hanoi in December 2005 to support its customers in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Binh Phuong, project manager at HDB, said, "As the industry is changing rapidly, we need to improve our business processes and be able to introduce more innovative products faster in order to stay competitive. By migrating our operations to a modern core banking solution that has already been successfully implemented in Vietnam, we are confident we can make progress towards accomplishing our strategic goals. System Access SYMBOLS' leading-edge technology gives it the high-volume scalability, multi-channel integration, as well as Internet banking capabilities that are critical in our network expansion plans."

Leslie Loh, president of SunGard's System Access business unit, said, "Our 'global yet local' strategy aims to provide innovative, international core banking solutions that are localized and supported by local staff. We constantly strive to form deep and lasting relationships with our customers and HDB can be reassured of our continuous support now and in the future. We are looking forward to a successful and satisfying experience with HDB."
