First Data Corporation (NYSE: FDC), a leader in electronic commerce and payment services around the world, today announced that David R. Money has been appointed Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the company, effective today.

Money has been serving as acting General Counsel since June 20, 2006, when Michael T. Whealy, who had been First Data's Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Administrative Officer and Secretary since 1998, was injured in an automobile accident. Whealy has been on medical disability leave since his accident and will retire from the company effective May 1, 2007.

"I want to express how grateful we are for Mike's remarkable recovery over the past few months. Much as I am eager to have him rejoin the company, I certainly respect his decision. He has been a tremendous asset to the company over the past 15 years and we will truly miss his wisdom, guidance and integrity. We wish Mike and his family the very best," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ric Duques. "I am pleased to officially name Dave Money as our new General Counsel. His long tenure at the company, combined with his broad industry expertise, make him well suited to assume the new role. Moreover, he has already successfully demonstrated his ability to serve in the role, which will make the transition that much easier. I want to congratulate Dave and thank him for taking on new responsibilities during the interim period. I look forward to continuing our close working relationship."

Money has served as Deputy General Counsel of First Data Corporation since March 2004. During the preceding thirteen years he filled a series of increasingly responsible positions in the legal departments of First Data and its predecessors. For eight years prior to joining First Data, Money was a partner in the law firm of Jones, Waldo, Holbrook and McDonough in Salt Lake City. He is a member of the Colorado and Utah state bar associations.

Money attended the University of Oregon School of Law and was awarded Bachelor of Science, Master of Business Administration, and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Utah.
