As part of the continuing rollout of Merlin, its 'next generation' core processing solution, Rolfe & Nolan today announced that it is developing the next Merlin module, Exchange Links. Merlin Exchange Links captures, filters, converts and outputs exchange-provided data in a single user-specified format, providing a single source of exchange related data. In addition, the module will also accept data from third party systems, convert it into the relevant exchange format, and deliver it to the exchange.

Phil Reed, Chief Technology Officer at Rolfe & Nolan said: "Merlin Exchange Links reflects Rolfe & Nolan's proactive response to assisting the listed derivatives industry in the adoption of new formats, specifically FIXML. Our close involvement here is typified in our chairmanship of the FIA IT Standards Working Group. The initial release will support the U.S. based FIXML initiative and cater for the capture and delivery of data in the key areas of trade related data, capital adjustments, prices and PCS. Subsequently, it will be developed to handle these areas at all leading global exchanges. We anticipate delivery of Merlin Exchange Links Q4 2004."

New ASP-Delivered Margin Tool, Margin Direct

Margin Direct is the newly developed ASP delivered browser-based front-end to Rolfe & Nolan's powerful Merlin Margin engine. Margin Direct is designed to deliver a high quality margin product - built with new technology - when and where the customer needs it.

Margin Direct has been developed to deliver four customer benefits: speed; pure web browser application with no plug-ins or downloads; security (SSL protection); and low cost.

Paul Miller, Rolfe & Nolan European Chief Operating Officer commented: "Margin Direct calculates margin for over 70 exchanges and has been delivered to over 30 customers since its inception a few weeks ago. It is a true web-based solution, offering fully flexible usage to market users of all sizes across their organisations."

Product Management Team Expanded with Killmister Hiring

As part of its commitment to the further evolution of Merlin and its modular solution, Rolfe & Nolan has identified several market needs that can be addressed by existing or soon-to-be-built Merlin modules, and has expanded its product management team accordingly by hiring Owen Killmister as an assistant product manager. Killmister will report to Dave Thompson and already has deep knowledge of Rolfe & Nolan, gleaned from five years previous experience with them. He has also worked in the financial markets for a bank, for a resource trader and as a consultant.
