Volante's product suite provides a scalable platform on which mainframe users can run financial messaging solutions and a modeling environment for users to rapidly build solutions without having to hand code them. Financial services customers no longer have to re-write their existing applications in order to integrate with other systems, making it faster and less costly to assemble an integration solution for their legacy environment.

Volante and IBM conducted a joint study at the IBM Benchmark Center in Poughkeepsie, New York, to measure the performance of message transformations running on WebSphere and zOS. The application was built using Volante Designer, which allows developers or analysts to quickly build solutions using a combination of pre-built components for standard financial industry protocols and a modeling tool to define transformations and message processing rules. The performance numbers are now available in a whitepaper entitled, "IBM System z/Volante Benchmark Report: Performance of Message Transformations Running on WebSphere and z/OS."

"One of the key requirements for application integration is the ability to provide real time connectivity to the platforms on which applications run," said Ray Jones, vice president of System z software at IBM. "Volante has demonstrated the ability to deploy their implementations on IBM platforms with very high throughputs and promoted the reusability of existing environments and interoperability between systems. This means more flexibility, shorter project cycles and no compromise on performance for mainframe customers in the financial services industry."

"The performance and reliability characteristics of IBM System z are ideally suited to run the demanding applications typically seen in the financial services industry," said Vijay Oddiraju, Founder & CEO, Volante Technologies. "Volante and IBM have demonstrated that there is no need for financial services companies to re-architect their IT infrastructture when dealing with the technology incompatibilities between legacy systems running COBOL applications and newer applications running on open systems. We have proved that assembling an integration solution for a mainframe customer does not have to be costly or time consuming."
