Lava Trading, the innovative technology provider that develops high-performance trading solutions for the financial services industry, today announced that it is now making archival data from its Lava Market Data product suite commercially available.

Incorporating market data from fifteen US equity sources, the Lava Archive contains every message processed by Lava since 2001 and holds 3 terabytes of information. This comprehensive volume of data is a record of the messages that were used to build Lava's order book and power its intelligent order routing service, and provides a full-depth view of the behavior of the US equities markets over the past five years. The data is normalized to a common format and messages are provided as they were received. The full archive is available as a one-time purchase, or via a monthly subscription service that also provides the current day's trading and quoting activity. In addition, a sample of one day's data is available on DVD.

"This information will prove enormously useful to Lava's customers," said Jim Weber, Managing Director, Lava Trading. "Among other benefits, it will provide customers with a historical record of how the market behaved in response to specific developments. Testing their strategies against this data will help firms validate and improve their trading models."

In addition to its historical market data, Lava will begin making its real time market data available to external customers. The Lava Trading Feed will provide access to Lava's patented full depth order book, which is used by Lava's intelligent order routing system. Customers who purchase Lava Archive will be given priority for integration of Lava's data feed products should they choose to purchase them.
