Aconite names Osborn chairman; Regester EVP, international sales & marketing

Aconite, a leading global provider of smart card payment solutions today announced the appointment of Patrick Regester and Peter Osborn.

The appointments are part of Aconite's plans to meet growing international demand for EMV and Pre-paid card technology and expertise in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the Americas.

As Executive Vice President of International Sales & Marketing, Patrick Regester will lead further expansion of Aconite in existing and new markets. Patrick has 20 years experience in the software industry, including positions as the managing director at Uniplex and VP International Operations at Secure Computing Corp and I-Logix. He will join Aconite from his current position as VP of International Operations at Telelogic where he is responsible for all subsidiaries in Europe and Asia.

Peter Osborn, Chairman of the Board of Directors, will be responsible for steering and advising the company as it enters the next stage of its global growth strategy. His career has included the start-up of Redwood International, where he directed the company's growth to 300 employees across four continents. Peter's experience in technology strategy, IPO funding and business growth will be invaluable to Aconite.

Both appointments demonstrate Aconite's commitment to continue its success and development in 2007. Aconite's proven EMV migration solutions are today recognised as key to addressing a market need for fast track, low risk and cost effective EMV migration. Prepaid contact and contactless payments are seen to be the most significant area for card payments market growth over the next 10 years. New software solutions recently announced by Aconite that meet this need include its Smart PrePaid offering.

Smart Prepaid supports banks, card processors and others interested in rapidly deploying solutions to exploit the enormous new market potential for Gift Cards and Prepaid products for payroll, travel, benefits, youth, and unbanked segments.

Further product announcements are forthcoming in 2007 whilst Aconite continues to build a global network of business partners and accelerrates its programme of global distribution throughout the year.
