Electronic commerce and payment services leader, First Data Corp. (NYSE:FDC), announced it has named Peter Wright as Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand.
An internal promotion, Wright has been with the company since 1994 in a range of strategic roles. Most recently he held the position of Senior Vice President, Strategic Investments, and maintained responsibility for identifying and executing strategic acquisitions, mergers, alliances and joint venture opportunities throughout Australia, New Zealand and South Asia. Major achievements in this role include the acquisition of the Cashcard ATM network, making First Data the largest independent ATM operator in Australia, as well as the establishment of a merchant alliance business with BankWest, a member of the HBOS Australia group.
Wright has also held senior executive roles within operations and network management; strategic planning; business development and was responsible for the establishment of First Data's Credit Card Systems Division for the region. His past experience includes various information technology and management roles in the financial services, thoroughbred racing and securities industries.
