The extended functionality of the Cryptomathic Authenticator allows it to support MasterCard CAP Modes 1 and 2, alongside existing multiple authentication mechanisms, such as mobile readers and cards, One Time Password (OTP) tokens, OTP SMS in addition to traditional static passwords.

Users of the Authenticator will benefit from being able to use the CAP standard on a tried and tested authentication server which supports additional authentication options.

Cryptomathic's Authenticator solution provides the banking world with scaleable, competitive and secure authentication servers. All servers are hardware enhanced, ensuring that sensitive operations take place within the protected environment of a Hardware Security Module (HSM). In addition to offering HSM protection of all keys, Authenticator offers role assignment, dual control, and independent auditing.

Peter Landrock, Executive Chairman of Cryptomathic, comments: "As an independent, global security solutions provider, Cryptomathic aims to build a product portfolio which reflects the diverse and constantly changing needs of our customers worldwide.

"Cryptomathic Authenticator is a proven server technology for banks and financial institutions and the addition of CAP functionality, in close co-operation with MasterCard, is part of our continuous effort to support as many authentication methods as possible. This latest development enables us to provide a highly-secure and cost effective authentication solution for multi-channel CAP programmes, anywhere in the world."

Cryptomathic's Authenticator also supports Visa's Dynamic Passcode Authentication (DPA) and the two-factor authentication standard from the UK's Association for Payment Clearing Services (APACS).
