Hydro uses Fame Energy as its core data warehouse of critical data on the gas, power and oil markets used for market analysis and downstream risk management and trading systems.

Hans Petter Larsen, information systems manager at Hydro Oil & Energy, said, "Fame Energy is a mission critical application that helps provide us with a common database across environments, faster time to market, and improved data quality. With SunGard, we have the assurance of a universal analysis tool for up-to-date data and flexibility needed in working across commodities on an enterprise scale."

Hydro uses Fame Energy solutions, EnergyServer and EnergyScope, for gas, power and oil trading and risk. EnergyServer provides Hydro with a consolidated data framework that houses quality-checked market data, and EnergyScope provides desktop analysis and reporting tools for all three commodities, which Hydro housed in separate databases previously. The single Fame Energy system for all three commodities helps Hydro to better facilitate risk management and reporting, gain economies and efficiencies in terms of system resources, and simplify maintenance.

Janet Crowley, president of SunGard's Fame Energy business unit, said, "Fame Energy addresses the needs of the world's most diverse energy companies, helping to reduce overlap, eliminate costly redundancies, and efficiently centralize data management across business units. Twelve of the world's top 20 public listed energy companies use Fame Energy solutions. We are pleased that Hydro is leveraging Fame Energy as a crucial business asset, and look forward to the enterprise rollout."
