Tumbleweed Communications EMEA, a leading provider of secure Internet messaging solutions for businesses and government agencies, announced today that Prudential, has implemented the Tumbleweed Email Firewall and Dynamic Anti-spam Service to fight spam, detect and kill computer viruses, and secure its corporate email communications. Already, Tumbleweed's solution is identifying 35% of emails per day as spam and on average catching more than 3000 viruses a day before they enter the Prudential networks.
Prudential is a leading life and pensions provider in the UK with 7,400 employees and 7 locations in the UK and internationally. The company was already using a combination of defence systems or methods to protect itself from spam including Realtime Black hole Lists (RBLs). To boost the company's protection, Prudential decided to enlist the services of Tumbleweed's Email Firewall and Dynamic Anti-spam Service. Figures from Tumbleweed show that Prudential is currently receiving around 40,000 emails a day with the Tumbleweed Email Firewall identifying and blocking around 14,500 spam emails on a daily basis.
"The use of Tumbleweed DAS has significantly reduced the amount of Spam entering our organisation which has enabled the IT support to focus their efforts on our core competencies," said Nick De Silva, Web Hosting & Messaging Manager, PruTech.
The Tumbleweed Email Firewall is an award-winning service which has been recognised in industry tests as the number one enterprise software solution for fighting spam. The email firewall protects, filters and secures email traffic at the Internet gateway, with an integrated set of anti-spam, anti-virus, anti-hacker, content filtering, email relay, and encrypted messaging capabilities. The Tumbleweed Email Firewall is currently used by over 400 organisations worldwide.
To further boost the capabilities of the email firewall, Prudential has also incorporated the Tumbleweed Dynamic Anti-spam Service into its anti-spam infrastructure to minimise email communications risks and reduce email management costs.
"Keeping up with the level of spam that is flooding email gateways is an ongoing fire fighting exercise. We developed the Dynamic Anti-spam Service to provide organisations like Prudential with constant awareness of the threat posed by professional spammers, and to keep their communication channels free from unofficial and irrelevant email communications," commented Soeren Bech, Business Director, Tumbleweed Communications EMEA.
Tumbleweed's Dynamic Anti-spam Service is an Internet-based subscription service that integrates with Tumbleweed's Email Firewall and allows Tumbleweed customers to download new anti-spam heuristics that are published up to six times per day. By analysing both spam and legitimate email gathered from worldwide sources (including Tumbleweed's enterprise customers), the Dynamic Anti-spam Service helps minimise the number of "false positives" - where legitimate email gets blocked by traditional heuristics-based spam filters.
