Alliance & Leicester introduces online account opening for small businesses

Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank is launching an online application process to make it easier for businesses with a turnover of up to £1 million to open any of its range of award winning current accounts and deposit accounts.
Unlike many other banks, the Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank system allows customers to complete the whole application process online. The customer then only needs to complete a signature form to enable the account to go live, whereas other providers require customers to visit a branch to complete the process.
Steve Jennings, Director of Business Banking at Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank says: "More and more businesses owners are choosing to use the internet to manage their finances, due to the added convenience it provides. During the last 12 months almost 60 per cent of potential customers expressed interest in our products via our website, so it was clear that we needed to develop an online application service. Business owners can now apply for an account in minutes, speeding up the account opening process plus business owners can also apply for additional services such as business loans and overdrafts at the same time."
Earlier this year, Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank was named 'Best Current Account Provider' by leading finance guide, Business Moneyfacts, for the fourth successive year.
Jennings adds: "Around 80 per cent of businesses currently bank with the big four banks and therefore many of the businesses choosing Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank are switching from another provider. We know that Business owners are incredibly time poor and therefore we've ensured that the account opening process is as easy as possible. I am confident that our new online application process will prove popular with new customers."
