TSYS has appointed Olin M. Wise as chief technology officer for distributed systems, creating a streamlined service and delivery structure for clients of all server-based technologies from TSYS.
In his new role, Mr. Wise will provide strategic direction for applications on all non-mainframe platforms, including prepaid, e-commerce and loyalty, among others. The chief information and technology officers for TSYS iSolutions, ESC Loyalty and TSYS Prepaid will report to Mr. Wise. Effective immediately, Mr. Wise will report to Kenneth L. Tye, senior executive vice president and chief information officer for TSYS. Mr. Wise has worked for TSYS for 21 years, serving most recently as group executive for all e-commerce services.
In a related change, Phillip R. Patrick has been promoted to senior director of operations for distributed systems. A 15-year veteran of TSYS, Mr. Patrick will report to B. Wayne Smith, group executive for IT operations. In his most recent leadership role with the company, Mr. Patrick has served as director of technical support for distributed systems.
The goals of this restructuring will focus on improving the affiliate companies' IT and operational structures at an enterprise level, creating consistent methodologies and delivery for distributed-computing applications, streamlining investments for these platforms, and overseeing compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
"These decisions reflect broader technology strategies to maximize our mainframe and server-based technologies for clients of all sizes, needs and regions," Mr. Tye says. "Our goal is to identify the most effective use of our IT talent across the company, while reducing the costs of infrastructure, development and systems. By improving ourselves, we can improve the clients' experience."
M. Paul Daffin Jr. will succeed Mr. Wise as the interim head of TSYS iSolutions, the new division that comprises the former ProCard and E-Business Services. Stephen W. Humber will continue in his current role as executive vice president and CTO for software management and mainframe environments, also reporting to Mr. Tye.
