SunGard today announced that Ted Gaasche has been named group chief executive officer of SunGard Availability Services.
Cristobal Conde, president and chief executive officer of SunGard, said, "Ted's track record at SunGard, management precision and operational excellence made him a natural choice to lead SunGard Availability Services. He has a deep understanding of our customers' requirements for information availability solutions and has the skills needed to help grow the business."
A two-decade SunGard veteran, Mr. Gaasche previously served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of SunGard Availability Services with responsibilities for overseeing the day-to-day operational and financial affairs of the company. "This strategy is the catalyst for growth as companies strive to reduce risk and increase their business uptime to gain competitive advantage."
Mr. Gaasche joined SunGard in 1987 and has held numerous positions in financial administration and planning, including vice president and controller of SunGard Recovery Services. Before joining SunGard, Mr. Gaasche worked for a mid-sized regional accounting firm that became part of Ernst & Young's Entrepreneurial Services Group. Mr. Gaasche received a BS/BA in Accounting from Shippensburg University, a Masters from Villanova University, and also holds a Certified Public Accounting license.
