Xenomorph moves into real-time tick-by-tick database market

Xenomorph today announced the launch of its new TimeScape real-time database technology for tick-by-tick data capture and retrieval. Xenomorph XDB, TimeScape's database engine, has always delivered unsurpassed performance for historic time-series data loading and retrieval, achieving far greater speeds than are possible with traditional relational database technology.

Now, given the trading, risk management and regulatory pressures on financial institutions to analyse high-frequency intra-day data, Xenomorph XDB has been extended to bring together high performance storage and retrieval of both time-series and tick-by-tick data.

Targeted specifically to maximise performance from Windows Server 2003, TimeScape combines this platform-optimised design with the openness present within industry standard programming interfaces such as .NET, SOAP and Java. In addition, TimeScape enables traders, analysts, brokers, quants and risk managers to take immediate advantage of the power of Microsoft Excel to analyze tick data without the usual inherent operational risk or inconsistency of spreadsheet usage.

Brian Sentance, managing director of Xenomorph, says, "Xenomorph's entry into the real-time tick-by-tick database market is a strategic and logical step forward for us and our clients. We believe that we are in the market-leading position of combining the best in both tick data and historic data storage technology, providing levels of performance not possible with traditional database technology. We are looking forward to announcing further technology innovations over coming months, reinforcing TimeScape's position as the most sophisticated and customisable data cleansing and analytics platform on the market."
