Steven Levy, President and CEO of Macgregor stated: "With this version of XIP we've introduced a new software development kit that will make it easy for firms to integrate other systems into their XIP workflow as well as to extend XIP with custom functionality. Microsoft® Excel® is a good example of a popular application that can now be embedded into our front-end and leveraged for its excellent modeling, charting and reporting capabilities. Combine this with all the new native XIP functionality and the increased electronic trading throughput and I believe this version will set a new standard for decision support, system extensibility and electronic trading performance".
New Functionality
Optimizer
The Optimizer is an advanced order generation tool that generates proposed order sets to meet multiple user-defined objectives for equities, fixed income and most derivatives. The Optimizer will iterate through thousands of potential solutions in seconds to find the "optimal" proposed order set. Some common Optimizer workflows include: duration swaps, proceed swaps, par swaps and barbell swaps.
Microsoft® Excel® Integration
Users will be able to dynamically capture data from portfolio manager and trader views into Microsoft® Excel® and utilize all of Microsoft's computational, graphical and 3rd party integration power.
Fixed Income and Derivatives Decision Support
Users can now create fixed income, futures and options orders through four order generation paths: portfolio in-cell edit, benchmark replication, raise/spend cash and neutral/targeting optimizations.
Support for Hyperlinks
Firms will be able to create user-defined attributes in the XIP database that reference a hyperlink to external web pages. These hyperlinks allow users to access, with one click, reference web pages for securities, accounts, orders, executions, holdings and tax lots as examples.
Integration and Extensibility
Software Development Kit
The XIP Software Development Kit is one of many new technological advancements that will help firms integrate third party or proprietary applications into their Macgregor XIP workflow, extend XIP with custom functionality and enable real-time integration with the enterprise.
Performance
Electronic Trading
Modifications to XIP have increased the speed with which it can send and receive orders by more than 10x under typical usage scenarios. These performance benchmarks are consistent between the SQL and Sybase versions of XIP.
Demos of this new version of Macgregor XIP will be available during the SIA Technology Conference next week in New York. Visit us at Booth #2011.
