FaceTime Communications, the leading provider of solutions for securing and managing greynets, and Proofpoint, Inc., the leader in large-enterprise messaging security solutions, today announced a new strategic partnership whereby the companies will provide interoperable, easy-to-manage solutions for comprehensive IM and email security and compliance in a single platform.
Enabled by FaceTime's IMAuditor, the integration between FaceTime and Proofpoint allows IM, P2P, email, Web-based email and FTP messaging security policies to be easily created, managed and enforced through a centralized, Web-based interface. In this integrated solution, IMAuditor communicates IM conversations - including file transfer content - to Proofpoint's messaging security solutions for further processing and policy enforcement.
Customers of Proofpoint's messaging security solutions can now easily extend Proofpoint's protection for email, HTTP and FTP channels to IM and P2P networks, allowing consistent enforcement of messaging security policies across all communication channels.
"Working with FaceTime, we can make it easier for our customers to ensure that all communications from the company adhere to internal policies and compliance regulations, regardless of protocol," said Andres Kohn, vice president of product management for Proofpoint. "This interoperable solution, combining FaceTime with Proofpoint, not only provides enhanced compliance capabilities but also gives our users a complete solution for IM and P2P security - offering outstanding protection against both inbound and outbound threats related to instant messaging and greynets."
FaceTime's IMAuditor is a full-featured IM proxy that secures and manages all public and enterprise IM use over the enterprise network.
IMAuditor, which resides on the LAN, maintains an integrated trust relationship with FaceTime's perimeter product, Real-Time Guardian (RTGuardian). These two products form FaceTime Enterprise Edition to deliver complete end-to-end security, management and compliance for real-time communications in the enterprise, ensuring that corporate data is protected both from outside threats such as spyware, worms and other malware, as well as from information leakage from within the company.
"Working with partners such as Proofpoint, we can provide our customers with a comprehensive security and compliance solution for real-time collaborative applications such as IM, operating in concert with the system they have in place for email policy enforcement," said Srinivas Gurrapu, vice president of product management for FaceTime Communications. "It's a win-win for customers that need to ensure both security and compliance of all their electronic communications, across the board."
