The expansion will enable Italian businesses to access a single platform designed to simplify payment processing, reporting and fraud prevention.

The company’s entry into Italy marks a strategic move into the fourth-largest eCommerce market in Europe, addressing a fast-growing segment that remains underserved by legacy payment providers. With an established engineering hub based in Milan, Mollie will continue to grow the local team with commercial talent to drive the business forward. Mollie aims to offer a hyper local experience tailored to the specific needs of Italian businesses

Mollie offers a range of localised payment solutions tailored to the Italian market, including key payment methods such as Satispay and Bancomat Pay. This will allow the company to serve new local businesses while also supporting existing customers with their cross-border plans by integrating these local payment methods. Additionally, Mollie ensures a swift and localised onboarding experience, complemented by best in class support in local languages.

Italian businesses will benefit from existing plug-in integrations with popular e-commerce platforms like Shopify, Shopware, Prestashop, Magento, and WooCommerce, allowing for seamless implementation.

The company, which plans to expand into various additional EU markets in the short term, has achieved success across Europe through a customer-centric approach, enabling it to provide payments and money management services to over 250,000 businesses.

Malvina Podesta, co-founder and General Manager of leading Italian online footwear brand, Quanticlo, said: ‘We recently made the switch to Mollie, and the difference has been remarkable! The onboarding process was a breeze—what used to take us days with our previous provider was completed in just minutes online. The intuitive dashboard is well-structured, making it easy for our team to navigate and manage our payments efficiently.

What we love most is the easy access to detailed information on transactions, which has significantly improved our ability to serve our customers. With Mollie, we feel empowered and equipped to handle our payment processes seamlessly. We couldn't be happier with our decision to partner with Mollie!’

Koen Köppen, CEO of Mollie, said: ‘We are incredibly excited to bring the Mollie experience to even more businesses across Europe, especially as we expand into a key European market: Italy!

This launch enables us to serve new customers in a new market while also supporting our existing customers with their cross-border plans in Italy, thanks to the hyperlocal payment methods we’ve introduced. As we continue to expand into new markets, our mission remains clear: to make money management effortless for every business in Europe. Expanding into Italy represents a key step toward achieving that goal.’
