Bitstamp, the world's longest-running crypto exchange, has announced it is partnering with Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, to support Stripe's fiat-to-crypto onramp across the EU.
This collaboration brings together two of the most trusted and reliable fintech brands in the world, allowing consumers across the EU to easily purchase cryptocurrencies directly.
Stripe onramp is a customisable widget that developers can embed directly into their app or website, providing users with a seamless checkout experience optimised for cryptocurrency conversion, and allowing near instant settlement of crypto transactions. Developers of applications can integrate Stripe’s crypto onramp directly into their products with just a few lines of code, while Stripe and Bitstamp handle the underlying complexity.
With this partnership, Bitstamp will manage the fiat currency to cryptocurrency conversion and transfers to consumers. This represents an expansion of Bitstamp-as-a-service, further solidifying cryptocurrency's role as a vital part of the digital payments’ ecosystem. Stripe’s crypto onramp supports various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Stellar (XLM), and USD Coin (USDC).
Jean-Baptiste Graftieaux, Global CEO of Bitstamp, said, "We're immensely proud to have been chosen to partner with Stripe - one of the biggest and most trusted players in the payments space. It’s a testament to our own record for safety, reliability, and security."
John Egan, Head of Stripe Crypto, highlighted Bitstamp's reputation as a factor in the decision: "Bitstamp's long-standing reputation as a trusted partner made them an easy choice for us when considering how best to serve the needs of our users and their customers in the EU."
