Patrick Brazel is to take over as chief executive of Dublin-based banking systems supplier Eontec from co-founder Jim Callan.

A former founder of Devon Systems and Sentry Financial Systems and head of SunGard's capital markets division, Brazel has held the role of executive chairman of Eontec since October 2001.

The company also announced the appointment of Bernard Horn, an Eontec director and former NatWest board director, as chairman.

Callan who set up the firm in 1994 and remains a board member and significant shareholder comments: "Our solid track record and recent customer wins endorse Eontec's vision for multi-channel banking and after almost ten years, I have decided that now it is the right time for me to step aside from day to day management."

Eontec recently won a significant tender to upgrade the Internet banking systems of Commonwealth bank of Australia.
