French trading software vendor GL Trade has acquired 4D Trading, a provider of 3D visualisation tools for the financial markets, for an undisclosed sum.
London-based 4D Trading was set up by proprietary traders and the director of the Virtual Environments Masters and PhD Programme at University College London. The firm also has offices in Chicago.
Under the deal, 4D Trading's market visualisation software, 4D Genie, will be integrated with GL Trade's front-office product. The package will then be re-branded and marketed to US firms trading on the American derivatives markets.
The 4D Genie tool delivers a multi-dimensional representaiton of market data. The system takes prices from APIs or proprietary feeds and graphically displays a complete picture of the market in a 3D environment. Users are also able to send orders directly from the 3D screens.
Pierre Gatignol, GL Trade CEO, says: "Development of this new package in the United States will also give additional impetus to our local development in the American markets-based culture".
GL trade says the new product will be developed for use on both equities and derivatives markets worldwide.
