Scotland-based Spektra's Open Transaction Server (OTS) has received accreditation from Origo, the technology standards body for the UK life assurance industry.
The Spektra package allows for the secure exchange of Origo messages between financial intermediaries and product providers using Unipass digital certificates. Spektra OTS was first deployed by Bright Grey, a Royal London protection company.
Spektra says OTS is the first product to implement the Origo HTTP message transmission guidelines (MTG)- which define how Origo XML messages can be exchanged over the Internet - to enable the deployment of services such as quotes, new business, contract enquiries, events and commission.
Euan Robertson, director of Spektra, says: "By using Spektra OTS and the Origo standards, the financial community can quickly integrate with each other to achieve the critical mass that is required to turn the theoretical benefits of e-business into reality."
