Lehman standardises on Tibco middleware

Lehman Brothers is to use Tibco's ActiveEnterprise middleware for global straight-through processing. The technology is being implemented enterprise-wide in a bid to streamline data flows across trading, risk management, settlement and proprietary real-time systems.

Bob Schwartz, chief technology officer for Lehman Brothers says the Tibco technology will provide the firm with common middleware for its market data infrastructure "as well as a strategic tool to be used in implementing inter-application communication".

Lehman Brothers recently purchased 1500 positions of Reuters 3000 Xtra, Reuters flagship market data delivery service. Tibco ActiveEnterprise provides the underlying message switching software that delivers information to Reuters 3000 Xtra and other desktop applications used in Lehman offices worldwide.
