Sun to offer pre-loaded FIX Swift software

Sun Microsystems has announced plans to ship entry-level servers pre-loaded with FIX software. The vendor has also entered a joint initiative with SunGard Business Integration to offer a global Swift interface utilising Mint software.

Sun is working with FIX solutions providers Financial Fusion and B2Bits to broaden its Customer Ready Systems programme with the addition of embedded FIX application software.

Peter Kane, vp, financial markets with Financial Fusion, says: "We plan to offer Sun servers pre-installed with Financial Fusion Server and TradeForce GlobalFIX Bridge for SwiftNet. Integration and optimisation takes place on the factory floor, saving time and installation costs for our customers."

The product will be ready to ship in early 2003, he says.

Likewise, integrated FIX solutions from London software house, B2Bits are currently being tested and optimised for shipment later in the year. The company's flagship FIX product, Antenna C++, is designed to handle high volumes of order flow across multiple connections in real time for consolidating FIX order flow.

Working with SunGard, Sun is also adding Swift interface software from Mint to ease the migration path for financial institutions to the new IP-based SwiftNet service.
