EDS launches credit union Web management package

Electronic Data System (EDS) has launched Enterprise Web Manager, a new software package designed to help credit unions maintain and manage their online Web presence.

The IT services group says the application lets credit union employees quickly and easily tune Web site content. It is designed to seve as the centralised, single sign-on launching point for all of a credit union's internal or member electronic services such as home banking, cheque imaging services, Web-based loan origination, and any third-party service.

Texans Credit Union, a $1.1 billion institution with 150,000 members, is the first customer to use Enterprise Web Manager. "Almost 90 percent of Texans' member-initiated transactions - things like deposits, withdrawals and inquiries - are completed through the Internet, audio response or ATMs, so the single sign-on and authentication that Enterprise Web Manager enables will help make self service banking even more convenient for our members," says Cartersays Carole Carter, CIO.

The package can be used with Virtual Branch, EDS' electronic banking suite - already in use at 350 credit unions - as well as with other popular home banking products, says the vendor. The application can also integrate with customer relationship management systems, aiding cross-selling and campaign management.

The solution is based on portal technology from Epicentric Inc, and follows from an alliance signed with EDS in January 2002. EDS is offering the technology under a service bureau/application service provider (ASP) model, which includes management of all of the supplier products and relationships included in the application.

EDS currently provides IT services - including Web- and PC-based electronic banking, debit cards and ATM services - to 2400 credit unions.
