UK-based Avellino has won a £300,000 contract with South African banking group Old Mutual for its data profiling and analysis solution, Avellino Discovery.
The data integrity services and consulting (Disc) unit at Old Mutual is responsible for monitoring and measuring the group's data quality. Avellino Discovery is initially being used by Disc to analyse data and help with the migration of multiple legacy systems to its new sales remuneration management system.
Discovery will also be used for other enterprise data quality and data integration initiatives within the organisation.
Jill Wagner, solutions co-ordinator at Disc, explains: "Prior to using Avellino Discovery, understanding the quality and integrity of data was a tedious and lengthy manual task. Our team has little knowledge of our legacy systems so we needed a product that could automate much of the process and take the pain away from manually having to search for data related problems."
She continues: "After a thorough evaluation, we selected Avellino Discovery over seven other vendors...We were particularly impressed with Discovery's ability to drill down into the actual data to view suspected data quality exceptions in context."
The deal represents Avellino's first contract win in South Africa.
