Diebold has acquired Sersi Italia, a provider of closed-circuit television monitoring systems for bank and post office ATMs, for an undisclosed sum.

Sersi Italia has a staff of 50 employees and posted EUR3.5 million in sales in 2001. As a result of this acquisition, Diebold will exploy 200 staff throughout Italy.

The US ATM manufacturer says deal will allow the company to extend its own self-service technology into a new arena through the management of 2300 automatic postal dispensers.
