GFI closes $34 million funding round

GFI Group, a provider of software, brokerage and data services to the derivatives, commodities, currencies and securities markets, has closed a $34 million series C preferred stock investment led by Advent International.

Several of GFI's existing investors, including Venturion Capital, 3i and an affiliate of CMS Companies, also participated in the current round.

GFI says it will use the new funding to expand its existing service offering and open newer high-growth markets for its institutional customers around the world.
