SunTrust and Atlantic Mutual take On Technology remote route

SunTrust Banks has placed an additional order with ON Technology for 12,000 ON Command CCM software licenses as part of an effort to automate the rollout of Windows 2000 and initiate remote management of terminals across its branch network.

The new order supplements the 2000 licenses that had previously been purchased and deployed by the Atlanta, Georgia-based bank.

SunTrust is using ON Command CCM to provide remote systems management for 15,000 workstations in 1000-plus branch locations. ON Command CCM is also being used to fully-automate the bank's strategic roll-out of Windows 2000 and Active Directory, as well as provide one-click disaster recovery in case of accidental misconfiguration or corruption.

By pushing operating systems, applications, and content over the bank's existing network infrastructure, from centralised management servers, ON Command CCM eliminates the need for technicians to physically travel to branch locations in order to install software or rebuild malfunctioning systems.

SunTrust says it will also be using the system to provide lifecycle management for a broad range of enterprise software components.

In a seperate deal, the vendor is reporting a contract win with Atlantic Mutual to deliver Windows 2000 migration and ongoing remote management of PCs in its 30 locations worldwide. This includes the company's office in London.
