The bank has chosen ALG's Metify Activity Based Management (ABM) system to identify and manage the major activities performed in each process across the two divisions. The results will allow Abbey to better understand its cost base, and equally as important, the profitability of its product range and distribution channels, says the company.

The 20-user client server system is being implemented at Abbey National Group's Milton Keynes headquarters, and First National's Harrow base.

Peter Cahill-Shaw, ABC manager, retail and central finance, Abbey National Group, comments: "We wanted a solution that was tried and tested and used proprietary, off-the-shelf software that had been used successfully in the industry."
